Abstract

|
While the anterior visual and geniculocalcarine pathways deliver the elemental visual data from the eyes to striate cortex, the higher cortical visual (or association) areas perform the more complex interpretation of this visual information. Deficits caused by damage to these areas are characterized by abnormalities in visual processing or attention often despite otherwise relatively normal visual acuity and fields.
